Seatuck & Save-the-Sound Crossings Prioritization Mapping

Assessing and visualizing culverts and crossing conditions around the Long Island Sound.

CivicMapper engaged with Seatuck Environmental Association (Seatuck) and Save the Sound (STS) to support mapping the field assessments of the condition, size, and suitability for wildlife passage of existing culverts in key watersheds in Nassau County (Seatuck) and Westchester County (STS), and Suffolk County, New York. The goal of these assessments was to prioritize the replacement of damaged or undersized culverts with wildlife- and climate-friendly structures that facilitate wildlife movement, restore stream continuity, and improve the ecological health and sustainability of our coastal waterways.

To support this work, CivicMapper updated and applied the analysis methodology to newly collected field data, and migrated an existing legacy Esri web mapping application to Experience Builder. Additionally, the team provided training to Seatuck and STS staff around use of the data and maps.
